Product Photography is where Phil really hones his craft. “The objects don’t move. If the light is off, there’s no one to blame. It’s not a bad model. It’s your light. It forced me to be hyper-critical about every detail, every pixel in my images.” Phil cut his teeth by photographing electric pianos and products for Vintage Vibe Electric Piano Company while assisting for a catalog company. “I learned from the best. Older photographers that know how to get the shot, no matter what and then I got to immediately test my newfound knowledge when photographing the pianos.” Retouching became a necessary skill when photographing products, and Phil’s retouching skills are competitive with the best. Real Estate photography posed new challenges for Phil, but he quickly learned how to add that style of work to his arsenal.
